Additional Use Grant:

You may make production use of the Licensed Work, provided that your use does not include:

  • Reselling or Redistributing the Licensed Work: You may not offer, distribute, sublicense, sell, lease, or otherwise transfer the Licensed Work to any third party in any form, whether modified or unmodified.
  • Providing Support, Customization, or other Services: You may not offer any paid or unpaid support, consulting, or customization services related to the Licensed Work to third parties.
  • Offering the Licensed Work as a Hosted Service or Embedding It in a Product: You may not offer the Licensed Work on a hosted basis, integrate it into another service, or embed it in any product that is provided to third parties.
  • Competing with Oduist OÜ: You may not use the Licensed Work in any way that competes with Oduist OÜ’s offerings, including its paid support and service agreements.

For purposes of this license:

“Product” means software that is offered to end users to manage in their own environments or offered as a service on a hosted basis.

“Embedded” means including the source code from the Licensed Work in a competitive offering. “Embedded” also means packaging the competitive offering in such a way that the Licensed Work must be accessed or downloaded for the competitive offering to operate.

Hosting or using the Licensed Work(s) for internal purposes within an organization is not considered a competitive offering. Oduist OU considers your organization to include all of your affiliates under common control.

Terms

The Licensor hereby grants you the right to copy, modify, create derivative works, redistribute, and make non-production use of the Licensed Work. The Licensor may make an Additional Use Grant, above, permitting limited production use.

Effective on the Change Date, or the fourth anniversary of the first publicly available distribution of a specific version of the Licensed Work under this License, whichever comes first, the Licensor hereby grants you rights under the terms of the Change License, and the rights granted in the paragraph above terminate.

If your use of the Licensed Work does not comply with the requirements currently in effect as described in this License, you must purchase a commercial license from the Licensor, its affiliated entities, or authorized resellers, or you must refrain from using the Licensed Work.

All copies of the original and modified Licensed Work, and derivative works of the Licensed Work, are subject to this License. This License applies separately for each version of the Licensed Work and the Change Date may vary for each version of the Licensed Work released by Licensor.

You must conspicuously display this License on each original or modified copy of the Licensed Work. If you receive the Licensed Work in original or modified form from a third party, the terms and conditions set forth in this License apply to your use of that work.

Any use of the Licensed Work in violation of this License will automatically terminate your rights under this License for the current and all other versions of the Licensed Work.

This License does not grant you any right in any trademark or logo of Licensor or its affiliates (provided that you may use a trademark or logo of Licensor as expressly required by this License).

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE LICENSED WORK IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” BASIS. LICENSOR HEREBY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING (WITHOUT LIMITATION) WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND TITLE.

📜 BSL in simple words

As passionate creators, we develop and share our products under the Business Source License (BSL), making them freely available for download from the Odoo Marketplace and our GitHub repositories.


After the change date, our products will transition to the LGPL-3 license, ensuring long-term openness while maintaining a sustainable development model.


Our Business Source License (BSL) allows free production use of our products. You are also free to study and modify the code for your own internal business needs. However, publishing, distributing, or offering our modules as part of a commercial service is not permitted. 

If you wish to resell our modules, include them in your service offerings, provide support, or deliver customizations based on our code, you must enter into an official Oduist Partner Agreement. Only Oduist Partners are authorized to redistribute, integrate, or monetize our technology within their solutions.

🍳 BSL Explained as a Recipe

Imagine you walk into our kitchen:

  • We give you the recipe (source code) for free.
  • You can cook it at home, tweak the spices, and enjoy the dish with your family ( internal business use).

But there are some rules:

  • You can’t open a restaurant and sell our dish to the public without talking to us first ( no redistribution without agreement).
  • You can’t package our recipe into your own cookbook and sell it as if it’s yours ( no reselling the modules).
  • You can’t become a catering service and feed other companies using our recipe unless you are an official partner ( no support/customization for clients unless partner).

After a few years, the recipe will be released into a public cookbook ( changes to LGPL). At that point, anyone can do whatever they want with it — open a restaurant, sell cookbooks, or make food trucks.

But until then, if you want to run a business around our recipe, you have to join our Oduist Partner Program — that’s like getting a franchise license from us.
